Jagdtiger - Basecoat, Modulation, Chipping

Ce projet me plaît de plus en plus ! C'est vrai ! J'aime le défi qu'il me lance, la nouveauté que cela apporte et en plus, cela me permet de penser plus intensément à ma manière de vivre cette passion !

J'ai tout d'abord commencé par un mélange de Dark Yellow et Deck Tan de Tamiya que j'ai dilué à mort pour la couche de base. J'ai passé un nombre incalculable de couches super fines pour laisser transparaître les effets précédemment créés. Alors, je dois tout de même dire que la plage arrière m'a donné le plus de mal, car je l'ai, à mon avis, peinte de manière trop sombre en noir et blanc. Une chose qu'il faudra rectifier à l'avenir. Mais le tout s'est plutôt bien passé. J'ai tout même un peu triché à la fin, en rajoutant un peu de Deck Tan au mélange pour les partie hautes du Jagdtiger. Et comme je trouvais le résultat un peu fade, je me suis permis de passer un voile de jaune transparent.

First, I started by mixing Dark Yellow and Deck Tan from Tamiya that I thinned to death for the basecoat. I airbrushed an uncountable number of ultra thin layers to let the previous work show through the previously created effects. But, I must say that the rear deck gave me some extra work, for, I think, I painted it too dark in black and white. A thing I'll have to fix for future models. But the whole went rather smoothly. Still, I had to cheat in the end, adding some Dectk Tan to the initial mix for the highest parts of the Jagdtiger. And as I thought the model was looking a bit plain, I airbrushed a coat of Translucent Yellow.

J'ai poursuivi mon travail en réhaussant à nouveau les aspérités du Jagdtiger, boulons, crochets etc. en les peignant avec un mélange de Desert Yellow et White Bone de Prince Auguste. Cela permet d'obtenir une légère modulation à l'ensemble.

I then went on highlighting once more the nooks and screws etc. painting them with a mix of Desert Yellow and White Bone from Prince Auguste. This gave a slight modulation to the whole.

Puis le fastidieux travail d'éraillures à recommencé. La chose agréable est que j'ai déjà une carte de mes précédentes éraillures. Je peux donc aisément repasser dessus avec un mélange encore plus clair. Cette fois-ci j'ai dilué les peintures avec le diluant AK-Interactive qui s'est avéré parfait ! J'ai usé de l'éponge et du pinceau. L'autre avantage est que j'ai aussi pu ne pas repassé sur certaines éraillures qui ne me plaisaient pas avant la mise en couleur. Voilà qui est intéressant.

Then the long hard work of chipping started once again. The good thing with it is that I already have a map of my previous chips. I can thus paint them again with a brighter mix. This time I diluted the paints with the AK-Interactive thinner which was just perfect for the task! I used the sponge and the brush. The other good news is that I don't have to paint the old chips that I didn't like before applying the basecoat. This is interesting.

Enfin, avec du German Camouflage Black de Prince Auguste, j'ai peint les éraillures plus visibles. Je crois que je n'ai jamais fait d'aussi fines éraillures. C'est un entraînement perpétuel, il faut l'avouer, mais il vaut le coup. J'ai volontairement fait beaucoup de petites éraillures, car je sais que bon nombre d'entre elles seront recouvertes par les lavis à venir.

Finally, with some German Camouflage Black from Prince Auguste, I painted the most visible chips. I think I have never done that fine chips. It's a never-ending practice, I must say, but it's worth it. I made a lot of them, for I know that most of them will be covered by the upcoming washes and effects.
